Winter 2018 Registration is Open for Enrichment Hub!

Winter 2018 registration for E Hub is OPEN!

Thank you for your interest in Enrichment Hub's classes, held Fridays at
Kensington Church in Troy, MI. I'm attaching the Schedule Grid, class
descriptions and registration form here. Some classes fill quickly, so
please respond ASAP with your registration or questions. Calling is best
for questions, but email works too.

Registration closes Monday night, 1/22/17, at 10pm, so instructors can
prepare for their students.

Production and Pot Luck on 3/16/17, after scheduled classes this term!  Children, invite your family to see what you’re learning.  Parents, invite your friends to this free production and let them see your children plus check out E Hub for future classes. Sign up in March for your seats and info.  Ask your instructor for details.

* Classes are held Fridays, 8 weeks, unless noted in description of individual class. 
* In case of inclement weather, please see Troy Schools for closings.  If they are closed for severe weather, so are we, as our building is on their schedule of weather closings.  We are not, however, necessarily closed on their schedule for days off or vacations. 
* Classes are non-refundable and non-transferrable once registered, unless extreme circumstances.  Thank you for honoring the program and instructors in this manner.
* Registration is required in advance to ensure your child’s placement, to ensure classes run, and to prepare the instructor for their class.  Enrollment is on a first come, first serve basis.  See registration form for details.
* Note we offer a Fall, Winter and Spring term at Enrichment Hub.

Survival Skills, 9:50-10:45, ages 13 & up, $51 + $10 supply fee
Instructor:  Jeff Goebel
Students will learn survival techniques, and various ideas of how to survive in an emergency situation.  Students will learn useful skills such as rope tying, signaling for help, how to make shelters, hydration, first aid, etc. in this fun and informative class.

IMPROV Teens, 9:50-10:45, ages 12 & up, $61
Instructor:  Sarah Hawkins
Explore Improvisation and Theatre with games and exercises for creating comedic and dramatic characters and scripts.  These free the actor's imagination, build ensemble, and hone concentration and focus skills.  New and returning students always welcome, every term is unique. 


Biology, part 2, 10:50-11:45, ages 13 & up, $51 + $15 supply fee
Instructor:  Tracy Mitton
This high school level class will count as a full credit in high school Biology, if students are enrolled in the class for both the fall and winter terms and complete their labs and homework. It can count for a half credit in Biology, if they just complete the winter term class. In this class, students will study life from plants to animals. This class will require students to do a homework reading and questions assignment each week before they come to class on Friday. Students will be given the answers to these assignments at the beginning of class each week, so they can mark their work. During our class time, students will complete a lab, which could be a dissection, observation, or experiment related to the topic of their assignment. We will complete 2-3 dissections this term.

Beaded Jewelry Making, 10:50-11:45, ages 12 & up, $51 + $30 supply fee
Instructor:  Jennifer Goebel
Learn some fun techniques and make some jewelry.  This term we will be making a few different projects with several types of beads that you can take home with you to gift or wear.

Acrylic Art, 12:20-1:15, ages 12 & up, $51 + $25
Instructor:  Jeff Goebel
Students will learn how to inspire art with acrylic paints. We will use different painting techniques such as black and white, one stroke, blending, light and shadow. Each student will receive a set of brushes to keep at the end of class.

Creative Writing, 9:50-10:45, ages 12 & up, $51
Instructor:  Tessa Castillo
Do you have a knack for stories, but need a place and time to work on your talent? Then this class is perfect for you! We will be finding key warm up techniques, learning of different influential writing styles, and pushing our boundaries to new levels!  New and returning students welcome.  Bring a notebook specifically for this class and two pencils, NO pens, please.

Spanish, 1:30-2:25, ages 11 & up, $51 + $14 supply fee
Instructor:  Morgan Byers
New and returning students welcome, we will be guided to learn Spanish pronunciation, basic concepts of grammar and vocabulary by topic in this fun and interactive class.  Supply fee includes Spanish Middle/High School Book for new students.  Returning students please use your same book as last term.

American Sign Language (ASL), 9:50-10:45, ages 11 & up, $51 + $15 supply fee
Instructor:  Morgan Byers
New and returning students welcome to this great sign language class, which covers the simple basics, full sentences and more using their fingers to fingerspell, signing words with their hands and learning the importance of facial expressions. Students will be able to communicate easily with the deaf.  Supply fee includes a new book for students.  Returning students, this is not the book from last term. 




Public Speaking Workshop, 10:50-11:45, ages 10 & up, $51

Welcome to our newest Public Speaking workshop! This workshop will give every student the confidence to hone the craft of projecting messages to crowds. Join us as we work on memorizing and reciting, clarity and projection, and confidence in speaking.

LEGO RCX Robotics, 9:50-10:45, ages 10 – 12, $51 + $5 supply fee
Instructor:  Tracy Mitton
In this introductory class, students will learn the basics of programming and building a LEGO RCX robot to complete certain tasks. They will be given the opportunity to try new programs, trouble shoot, and have the chance to make and program several types of robots, including the Roverbot, Acrobot, and Inventorbot. No prior computer knowledge is necessary. Instructor will supply the computers and RCX robotics kits. Max 8 students.

Watercolor Art, 9:50-10:45, ages 10-14, $51 + $15 supply fee
Instructor:  Evelyn Mitton
In this class, your child will get an early start on watercolor painting in a professional light, with professional watercolors, fun techniques, and exciting things to paint.  Your child is sure to get brushed up in the excitement and fun that is watercolors. Class limit: 8

Auditions!  12:20-1:15, ages 9 & up, $61
Instructor:  Sarah Hawkins
Auditions are critical for nailing the role desired in theatre, film, and more.  Students will practice the art of auditioning for film and stage by the use of monologue preparedness, cold and warm readings, and slating, as well as analyzing character breakdowns and identifying type. 

Musical Theatre, 12:20-1:15, ages 9 & up, $51 + $10 supply fee
Instructor:  Tessa Castillo
New class!  Sing and dance in fun performance style!  Practice your technique in dance, grow your voice in singing, practice harmony and vocal production, while learning songs and choreography.  Please wear jazz or tennis shoes, have hair pulled out of face, and wear clothing you can stretch and move in decently.  Final performance will be on stage during production in costume! 

Polymer Clay Art, 1:30-2:25, ages 8 & up, $51 + $20
Instructor:  Jennifer Goebel
Come each week to learn the technique and fun ways to make some fun creations with polymer clay.  We will be making a few different projects that you can take home with you to gift or wear.  New and returning students welcome.  New projects each term. 

More Science Exploration, 12:20-1:15, ages 8-10, $51 + $10 supply fee

Do you have kids who have gotten a science kit for a present and really enjoyed it? Are they just itching to explore more? Then this is the class for them! In this class we will explore a new facet of science each week through real science experiments and observations. This term we will do some biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering.

In this creative and crafty class, we will learn different ways to use stamps. We will make art pictures, cards, and much more. We will also find out what things around the house can be used as stamps.

Intermediate String Ensemble, 1:30-2:25, ages 8 & up, $71, BYO Stringed Instrument
Instructor:  Kelly Roenicke
This class is for students who have at least 1 year experience playing the violin, viola, or cello. We will form a performance ensemble and have fun playing classical music together. You must bring your own instrument and be able to read sheet music for this class. 

Young Acrylic Art, 10:50-11:45, ages 7-11, $51 + $25 supply fee

Hand Quilting, 9:50-10:45, ages 7 & up, $51 + $20 supply fee

In this class we will learn to make a small quilt by hand. We will learn how to thread a needle, make a pattern and cut it out, cut out our material, and assemble the quilt.

Nerf War 101, 10:50-11:45, ages 7-13, $51 plus $2 supply fee, BYO Nerf Gun
Instructor:  Angelique VanHooser
Friendly Nerf games and competition in a safe and fun environment.  We will have target practice, forts we defend, army games and much, much more.  If you have your own Nerf gun (Nerf guns that use Elite darts recommended) bring it with your name on it; BUT if you don't, you can borrow one from the instructor.  Elite darts will be supplied so only your instructor’s darts could get lost.  If you want, you can also wear safety glasses/googles.

Cooking 4 Kids, 10:50-11:45, ages 7-14, $51, plus $10 supply fee

Soups and Spices edition!  Children will explore flavors with recipes which include a variety of spices and herbs and practice our kitchen skills by making a variety of soups.  Each week will have either a soup or a new spice, and we will make both savory lunch dishes and desserts.  Please be sure to note all allergies upon registration- in past, we adapted recipes to be gluten and dairy free, etc., and we will make sure that your child can participate too.  As always, we will incorporate the four cooking basics of manners, measuring, food exploration and safety.  New and returning students welcome. 


Early Literature, 1:30-2:25, ages: 6-10, $51 plus $10 supply fee

Jump into a mountain of adventure, as we explore the world through the books. Jumping though classic fairy tales, modern reading, and classic literature, your child is sure to find themselves enraptured in the world of the authors imagination. This class will be a fun literary discussion accompanied by in class reading sessions, projects and activities with at home reading. This class is set for children ages 8 – 10, but since most of the reading will be done at home with their parents, I would love to have any little ones’ ages 6 and 7 if they are accompanied by a parent for class.

Nature Journaling, Winter Edition, 1:30-2:25, ages 6 & up, $51 plus $6 supply fee

Each new season is soooo much fun to explore and EXPLORE we do!  Bring your warm stuff, waterproof boots, if needed, and explore in the woods.  Exploring the creek, seeing the changes in growth and watch out for the mud!   Writing/artistic ability not needed.  New and returning students are welcome.

Fruit of the Spirit, 1:30-2:25, ages 6-12, $51 + $5 supply fee

Each week will be themed around a different Fruit of the Spirit.  We will learn about showing love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control while doing projects together, singing songs and learning memory verses to help guide us.  By the end of the semester each student will be able to name all nine fruits and have learned a variety of resources especially chosen to help them show fruit in their lives.

Beginning Violin, 12:20-1:15, ages 5 & up, $71, BYO Violin
Learn to play the violin in a group setting with instructor Kelly Roenicke. This class is for the true beginner - we will start with the basics and learn to play using a variety of traditional methods and Suzuki methods. You must bring your own violin - rental information is available.

Beginning Violin, part 2, 9:50-10:45, ages 5 & up, $71 + $6 supply fee, BYO Violin

Returning students from Fall 2017, continue to learn to play the violin in a group setting with instructor Kelly Roenicke. We will continue to learn using a variety of traditional methods and Suzuki methods. Lego Challenge, 9:50-10:45, ages 5-9, $51 plus $8 supply fee

Enjoy creative time with friends.  This class will have games, contests, free build time and even some math -- all while playing with Legos.  New and returning students welcome. 
Beginner ASL (American Sign Language) 10:50-11:45, ages 5-9, $51 + $15 supply fee

New and returning students welcome to this fun and educational class of American Sign Language.  Supply fee includes a new book for students.  Returning students, this is not the book from last term. 

Beginner Spanish, 12:20-1:15, ages 5-9, $51 + $16 supply fee
Instructor:  Morgan Byers
New and returning students welcome to this easy and fun Spanish class, focusing on writing, reading and speaking words, numbers, colors and more. Students will also learn to form simple sentences of everyday situations.  Supply fee includes Spanish Elementary Book for new students.  Returning students please use your same book as last term.

Young Science Exploration, 1:30-2:25, ages 5-7, $51 plus $10 supply fee

Have your kids ever wondered what science is? What does a scientist do? This class is a great way for them to find out! Each week we will explore a new kind of science through fun experiments and activities. This is a great class for those new to science or returning scientists who just want to learn more!  This term we will study such things as the 5 senses, Chemistry, Alternative energy, and more.

Young Watercolor Art, 12:20-1:15, ages 3-7, $51, plus $8 supply fee

Art learning with flowers, turtles, snails, and creativity all with the fun of watercolor paints. Add some salt and wax relief and you will have fun learning too.  Remember to have your young artist wear clothes that they can paint in.  New and returning students always welcome.

Tots Ballet, 1:30-2:25, ages 3-7, $51

Grab your tutus and don’t forget your dancing shoes! This class is for every little dancer with big dreams. This session is being taught by Miss Tessa, a dancer with over 10 years’ experience, who will be guiding our little ones to reach the next step of their dancing skills. We will be focusing on the technique and basics of ballet, to work towards a final performance that you won’t want to miss!  New to intermediate students welcome. Please have hair pulled back in ponytail or bun, wear leotard, tights, and ballet shoes. 

Animal Art, 9:50-10:45, ages 3-7, $51 + $10 supply fee
Instructor:  JoAnne Kroll
This class will investigate different art styles and media while learning about animals from God’s creation.  We will create God honoring animal art!   This class is great for students who want to explore a variety of art methods and beginning art expression. 

New Adventures in Literature, 10:50-11:45, ages 3–6, $51 plus $8 supply fee
Instructor:  Evelyn Mitton
New instructor, new style!  Come enjoy the adventures of classic children's books.  We will skip through some wonderful stories and immerse ourselves in the pages with fun and exciting activities. Together we will read though stories such as "Norbert Nipkin", "Over There", "Alvie eats soup", and many more new adventures.
Broadway Babies, 12:20-1:15, ages 3-6, $51
Instructor:  JoAnne Kroll
Singing and dancing and acting, oh my!  Combining multiple areas of performing arts in a way that allows each child to shine, our youngest students get a chance to perform by acting out a song on the last day.  In class we will utilize props and puppets to help students find their voice and interact with each other, preparing them for both a life on a stage and the theatre of life.



Join each other in community!
Lunch room available from 11:45-12:15. Students can enjoy lunch in the designated areas, and clean up their surroundings before heading back to class.  Parents help is needed to make this happen.
Parent/Tot Room, available to all enrolled families, during class times!  This is NOT a drop off room.  Children are not to be left unattended in this room, they are to be watched by their parent.  Remember to clean up after your family, and leave the room as nice as or better than you found it.  This is a good time for getting to know each other. 
Concerned:  Special Needs or Allergies?  Your child is welcome!  Many classes conform to your child’s needs.  Feel free to ask.
