Hello Homeschool Families,

I hope you all had a great summer!

Tricia and I have worked out a date for our eighth year in a row for
Enrichment Hub Portrait Day. *Please mark your calendars for Friday,
October 13th

*New for Enrichment Hub Portrait Day 2017*
~ All students who participate in portrait day will receive a complimentary
Enrichment Hub Student ID card useful for discounts at local museums and
establishments
throughout town.
~ New packages with more to choose from including a new entry point package
price.
~ More/New fun photo add-on's / accessories that make for fun portrait
items and great gifts including phone cases, coffee mugs, water bottles,
and more.
~ Valuable Parent/Educator ID's are available for purchase. They can be
used for discounts at local museums and establishments throughout town.
The price has been reduced by 25% from previous years!

Please make plans to stop by Tricia's desk this Friday, October 6th to sign
up for a time slot for Homeschool Photography Day. Like the prior years,
spots will go quick so make sure you get your spot reserved. If you aren't

Fall 2017 registration for E Hub is OPEN!

Fall 2017 registration for E Hub is OPEN!

Thank you for your interest in Enrichment Hub's classes, held Fridays at
Kensington Church in Troy, MI. I'm attaching the Schedule Grid, class
descriptions and registration form here. Some classes fill quickly, so
please respond ASAP with your registration or questions. Calling is best
for questions, but email works too.

Registration closes Monday night, 9/25/17, at 10pm, so instructors can
prepare for their students.

*Open House on 11/10, during classes, this term! *Children, invite your
parents to see what you’re learning. Parents, invite your friends to check
out E Hub for future classes. Ask your instructor for details.

* Classes are held *Fridays*, 8 weeks, unless noted in description of
individual class.

* In case of inclement weather, please see Troy Schools for closings. If
they are closed for severe weather, so are we, as our building is on their
schedule of weather closings. We are not, however, necessarily closed on
their schedule for days off or vacations.

* Classes are *non-refundable* and* non-transferrable* once registered,
unless extreme circumstances. Thank you for honoring the program and
instructors in this manner.

* Registration is required in advance to ensure your child’s placement, to
ensure classes run, and to prepare the instructor for their class.
Enrollment is on a first come, first serve basis. See registration form

* Note we offer a Fall, Winter and Spring term at Enrichment Hub.

per term, not per person.

*Biology*, 10:50, ages *13 & up*, $51 + $15 supply fee

Instructor: Tracy Mitton

This class will count as a full credit in high school Biology, if students
are enrolled in the class for both the fall and winter terms and complete
their labs and homework. It can count for a half credit in Biology, if they
just complete the fall term class. In this class, students will study life
from plants to animals. We may touch on the human body if our time
allows. This class will require students to do a homework reading and
questions assignment each week before they come to class on Friday.
Students will be given the answers to these assignments at the beginning of
class each week so they can mark their work. During our class time,
students will complete a lab, which could be a dissection, observation, or
experiment related to the topic of their assignment.

*College Prep: Essays*, 9:50, ages *13 & up*, $51

Instructor: Tessa Castillo

Looking towards the future is something every student should be focusing
on, and this class will help them right along. It's never too early to
become comfortable and confident writing college level essays. Whether it's
for admissions, or prep for their first English courses, or to use for
trade work right after graduation, this will be the perfect step in their
academic career. We'll work on a variety of essay styles and topics, making
them a step closer towards their future! Please bring a new notebook for
this class and two pencils to class weekly, NO pens.

*IMPROV Teens,* 12:20, ages *12 & up*, $61

Instructor: Sarah Hawkins Moan

Come explore Improvisation and Theatre with games and exercises for
creating comedic and dramatic characters and scripts. These free the
actor's imagination, build ensemble, and hone concentration and focus
skills. New and returning students always welcome.

*Looking through Literature*, 12:20, ages *12 & up*, $51 plus books
(library, borrow or purchase)

Instructor: Tessa Castillo

Classic novels are all around us, each one with important lessons and
morals, but do we really know the story behind the story? Let's dive in
together through some of the most influential literature of the past
century. During this course we will learn how to dissect the symbolism of
the stories, as well as learn their background. What time frame was the
novel written in, and what was the author's purpose in writing this story?
We'll figure out the true meaning behind some of the greatest American
novels. Book list will be given in class weekly. You can get these few
books simply from your local library, borrow them from a friend, purchase,
or maybe it’s on your shelf at home. Please bring a new notebook for this
class and two pencils to class weekly, NO pens.

*Teen Vocal*, 1:30-2:25, ages *11 & up*, $61

Instructor: David Moan

No matter if you are singing at the MET or in the car, there is always
something to learn about your voice. This class will allow teens of all
different skill levels to expand their vocal abilities and fine tune their
skills. We will use proper vocal technique through group vocalizing,
preparing solo pieces, as well as diving into an understanding of Music
Theory and Sight Singing. New and returning students always welcome. Note
time of class.

*Theatre Teens, *9:50, ages *12 & up*, $61

Instructor: Sarah Hawkins Moan

Students will write, act in, produce, costume, make props, and stage a one
act play in 8 weeks! Students should wear comfortable clothing and be
prepared to move in this fun class. New and returning students always
welcome.

*Spanish*, 12:20, ages* 11-up*, $51 + $13 supply fee

Instructor: Morgan Byers

Students will be guided to learn Spanish pronunciation, basic concepts of
grammar and vocabulary by topic in this fun and interactive class. Supply
fee includes Spanish Middle/High School Book

*American Sign Language (ASL)*, 9:50, ages *11 & up*, $51 + $15 supply fee

Instructor: Morgan Byers

This beginner sign language class covers the simple basic signs of the
alphabet, numbers, colors, food, clothes, full sentences and more using
their fingers to fingerspell, signing words with their hands and learning
the importance of facial expressions. Students will be able to communicate
easily with the deaf. Supply fee includes book.

*Creative Writing/English*, 1:30, ages *10 & up*, $51

Instructor: Tessa Castillo

Do you have a knack for stories, but need a place and time to work on your
talent? Then this class is perfect for you! We will be finding key warm up
techniques, learning of different influential writing styles, and pushing
our boundaries to new levels! New and returning students welcome. Bring a
notebook specifically for this class and two pencils, NO pens, please.

*General Science*, 1:30, ages* 10-13*, $51 + $12 supply fee

Instructor: Tracy Mitton

In this class for middle schoolers, we will cover topics in the history of
science, physics, geology, and biology, including the human body. We will
begin with the history of science. Every week students will be required to
do a reading assignment at home that may include some questions to answer
before they come to class on Friday. Students will be given the answers to
these assignments at the beginning of class each week so they can mark
their work. In our class time each week, we will complete an experiment or
two that directly relates to the topic of the assignment that they have
completed.

*Jewelry Making*, 12:20, ages *9 & up*, $51 + $25 supply fee

Instructor: Jennifer Goebel

Love Jewelry? Want to learn to make your own? Come join Mrs. Goebel to
learn some fun techniques and make some jewelry. We will be making a few
different projects that you can take home with you to gift or wear.

*Polymer Clay Art,* 9:50, ages *9 & up*, $51 + $15

Instructor: Jennifer Goebel

Come each week to learn the technique and fun ways to make some fun
creations with polymer clay. We will be making a few different projects
that you can take home with you to gift or wear.

*Musical Theatre Dance*, 10:50, ages *8 & up*, $51

Instructor: Tessa Castillo

Do you like to move? Want to dance like the dancers in Newsies and other
Broadway shows? Well then, this class is for you! We will be spending
each week focusing on a different style of classic musical theatre dance.
From Fosse to tap, jazz to contemporary, there's a place for every
performer in the spotlight! Youth and teens will enjoy learning these
moves. Please bring jazz shoes, keep hair out of face, and wear clothing
ready to move. New and returning students welcome.

*Science Exploration*, 9:50, ages *8-10*, $51 + $10 supply fee

Do you have kids who have gotten a science kit for a present and really
enjoyed it? Are they just itching to explore more? Then this is the class
for them! In this class we will explore a new facet of science each week
through real science experiments and observations. Allow your children to
step into this class and I can assure you that they will have fun and learn
some really cool stuff about science!

*Running Club*, 10:50, ages* 7 & up*, $51

Instructor: Angelique VanHooser

This club is for those who love running or those who want to start running.
Running is a great individual or group activity, can be done inside or
outside and is fun at any age. Come join the E-hub Running Club! Please
wear tennis shoes and clothing you can decently and comfortably stretch/run
in.

*U.S. Geography*, 12:20, ages *7-12*, $51

Instructor: JoAnne Kroll

Travel around the country visiting famous landmarks while learning our
states and capitals. Each student will complete an oral report on the
state of their choice to present in class. This will be a guided project
to help every student succeed in their research and presentation.

*Young Reader's Theatre*, 1:30, ages* 6-12*, $61

Instructor: Sarah Hawkins Moan

Come explore Reader’s Theatre with Sarah! Students will work together to
create pieces using folklore from countries around the world! Create sound
effects, develop characters, and learn how to present a finished piece of
theatre as an ensemble working together. Reading is not a requirement for
this class.

*Nature Journaling, Fall Edition, *1:30, ages *6 & up*, $51 plus $6 supply
fee

Instructor: Angelique VanHooser

Each new season is soooo much fun to explore and EXPLORE we do! Bring your
waterproof boots, if needed, and explore in the woods. Exploring the
creek, seeing the changes in growth and watch out for the mud!
Writing/artistic ability not needed. New and returning students are
welcome.

*Cooking 4 Kids, *10:50, ages *6 & up*, $51, plus $10 supply fee

Instructor: Jo Anne Kroll

Learn food safety and kitchen skills while making a variety of easy to make
dishes with your friends. This term will take off on an international
journey exploring foods from other countries, some familiar and some
unusual, while making at least one of each primary meal: breakfast, lunch,
dinner and dessert. As always we will incorporate the four cooking basics
of manners, measuring, food exploration and safety. New and returning
students welcome.

*American Girl Josefina*, 9:50, ages *6-12*, $51

Instructor: JoAnne Kroll

Take a journey back in time by learning about a girl from the early 19th
century living in the western United States. Josefina lived far west of
all of the other characters we may have studied, and she talked openly
about her Christian and Catholic beliefs. Join us in learning about the
culture of the American southwest, the history of our nation's beginnings
and the importance of holding on to your family and faith in God when
trials come. Each week we will also make time for a craft or activity and
end with a cultural celebration on our final day of class.

*Young Reader’s Theatre,* 1:30, ages *6-12*, $61

Students will hone their reading and acting skills by working on reader's
theatre pieces based in folklore. New and returning students always
welcome in this fun class.

*Youth Vocal,* 1:40-2:25, ages *6-11*, $61 (revised time)

Grow your voice in singing! This class will allow our students to begin, or
continue, to develop their own voice, along with learning the basics of
singing (vocal production, harmony, etc). We will also explore an
introduction to music theory. New and returning students welcome. Please
note time of class.

*Young Science Exploration*, 12:20, ages *5-7*, $51 plus $10 supply fee

Have you ever wondered what science is? What does a scientist do? This
class is a great way to find out! Each week we will explore a new kind of
science through fun experiments and activities. This is a great class for
those new to science or returning scientists who just want to learn more!

*Beginner ASL (American Sign Language) *10:50, ages *5-9*, $51 + $7 supply
fee

Learn basic signs for everyday use such as food, colors, animals and more.
Also learn how to fingerspell the alphabet and numbers. Supply fee
includes ASL book, “Sign Language, My First 100 Words”

*Beginner Spanish*, 1:30, ages *5-9*, $51 + $16 supply fee

Instructor: Morgan Byers

This easy and fun Spanish class will focus on writing, reading and speaking
words, numbers, colors and more. Students will also learn to form simple
sentences of everyday situations. Supply fee includes Spanish Elementary
Book.

*Intermediate String Ensemble, *9:50, ages *5 & up*, $71, BYO Stringed
Instrument

Instructor: Kelly Roenicke

This class is for students who have some experience playing the violin,
viola, or cello. We will form a performance ensemble and have fun playing
classical music together. You must bring your own instrument and be able to
read sheet music for this class.

*Beginning Violin*, 12:20, ages *5 & up*, $71, BYO Violin

Instructor: Kelly Roenicke

Learn to play the violin in a group setting with instructor Kelly
Roenicke. This class is for the true beginner - we will start with the
basics and learn to play using a variety of traditional methods and Suzuki
methods. You must bring your own violin - rental information is available.

*Lego Challenge*, 9:50, ages *5 & up*, $51 plus $8 supply fee

Instructor: Angelique Van Hooser

Enjoy creative time with friends. This class will have games, contests,
free build time and even some math -- all while playing with Legos. New
and returning students welcome.

*Youngster Polymer Clay Art,* 9:50, ages *5-8*, $51 + $15

Instructor: Jennifer Goebel

Come each week to learn the technique and fun ways to make some fun
creations with polymer clay. We will be making a few different projects
that you can take home with you to gift or wear.

*Painting with Watercolors*, 12:20, ages *3-7*, $51, plus $8 supply fee

Instructor: Angelique VanHooser

Art learning with flowers, turtles, snails, and creativity all with the fun
of watercolor paints. Add some salt and wax relief and you will have fun
learning too. Remember to have your young artist wear clothes that they
can paint in. New and returning students always welcome.

*Adventures in Arts & Crafts!* 9:50, ages *3-6, *$51 plus $8 supply fee

Instructor: Amanda Gehrke

From the amazing Adventures in Literature instructor comes a new arts &
crafts class! We will work on a fun new craft every week using many
different mediums. Come ready to get a bit crafty! Rolling up your
sleeves and bringing one of your dad’s old t-shirts to wear is a great
cover up idea. New and returning students welcome.

*Adventures in Literature*, 10:50, ages* 3–6*, $51

Instructor: Amanda Gehrke

Each week we'll enjoy the adventures of a classic children's book, and then
enjoy activities that go along with our story. We'll play games, create
art projects and explore social studies, math and science concepts from the
story. Always a new subject, every term!

*Broadway Babies*, 1:30, ages *3-6*, $51

Instructor: JoAnne Kroll

Singing and dancing and acting, oh my! Combining multiple areas of
performing arts in a way that allows each child to shine, our youngest
students get a chance to perform by acting out a song on the last day. In
class we will utilize props and puppets to help students find their voice
and interact with each other, preparing them for both a life on a stage and
the theatre of life.

*Join each other in community!*

*Lunch room available from 11:45-12:15. *Students can enjoy lunch in the
designated areas, and clean up their surroundings before heading back to
class. Parents help is needed to make this happen.

*Parent/Tot Room, available to all enrolled families, during class
times! *This
is NOT a drop off room. Children are not to be left unattended in this
room, they are to be watched by their parent. Remember to clean up after
your family, and leave the room as nice as or better than you found it.
This is a good time for getting to know each other.
