For advanced students, we will be taking those lessons, and apply them to more complicated still life drawings, while crisping up our darks and lights, and drawing capabilities to bring out a more 3 dimensional effect. Any students that would like to further their drawing skills in pastel, instead of pencil, are welcome to come study the Pencil student’s still-lives in pastel instead or set up a still-life of their own. We will celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, and surrounding folk tales, on 10/1, after classes, from 1:30 – 3p.m. China is as large as much of Europe, and like Europe, has vastly different languages. In the past, these Chinese “languages” have been referred to as dialects. The spoken word between provinces is vastly different, to the point of being mutually unintelligible. The written word is the same everywhere. Long ago, the Chinese emperors recognized this problem and created a trade dialect called Mandarin. This enabled merchants to more easily trade goods from one end of the country to the other. I will be teaching Mandarin, the trade dialect, and Mainland China’s simplified characters.
