High School Biology, Part 2 10:50-11:45, age 14 &
up, $52 plus $15 supply fee
This class
is the second of 2 parts, which will give a high school student a full science
credit in Biology. This term we will be covering
plants,
invertebrates, vertebrates, the skeleton, muscles, skin, the nervous system,
the endocrine system, the circulatory system, the respiratory system, digestion
and excretion, immunity and reproduction. Each week students will be required to do
reading, definitions, and review questions at home. In class, we will discuss the answers to
their homework and do a lab related to the topic we are studying. Lab will include some actual and some virtual
dissection. There are also 2 optional
exams per term (these are for marking by the parent, Tracy provides the answer
key). Due to the fact that this is a high school credit class, this class will
involve a scientific discussion of the organs that are part of the reproductive
system. We will be discussing these
organs in a very scientific manner.
However, if you wish you may choose for your student to skip this

A Capella Teen Choir, 12:20, age 12 & up, $52 plus $5 supply fee
Do you love to sing? Do you love A Capella groups? Are people
always saying you have a good voice or you can beatbox well? Then this class is
for you! We will be learning to sing in 3-4 part harmony, as well as
beatbox, learn to improve our singing voice, and create our own arrangements of

In this continuing class we'll turn stuffed
animals into robots, and program them to control outputs such as LEDs, motors,
and servos with inputs such as dials and switches. New and

Building Web Pages, 9:50, age 12 & up, $52, BYO Laptop
In this classes we'll learn all about what it
takes to make web pages by build some on our own computers. We will Learn about
HTML and adding content to our pages, how to do it properly using valid HTML
markup, and the different types of HTML. Learn about styling and how we can
change the way your content looks by using CSS and all of its various
rules. Finally we'll learn how we can debug our pages when things are not
working the way we would expect them to. Bring your own Laptop for class

Back by demand, our resident historian
returns to finish the 2nd half of the Wars of America class. This class deals with the Spanish-American
War, the World Wars, the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts, both Iraq Wars, and if
time allows, the War against Terror. Take
a relevant look. How did we get
involved? What was at stake? What context in history, legacy and perhaps most
important, moral lessons are to be learned? New and

Theatre
is amazing! Teens will work on creating
movement based on text, through the use of improvisation and storytelling. No movement training required, all levels of

Art Appreciation, Modern

Modern art is typically the style of art in which
artistic traditions from the past have been thrown aside in a spirit of
experimentation (around 1860s - 1970s).
Students will each pick different modern artists and study them, they
will then do an informal report to the class. We will work our way through several of the
"greats" of the Modern Art age and pick a couple to reproduce

class. The student will learn how to
draw in perspective, using rulers and compass as they get their inspiration

Gate Way arch, Trinity Church, The Jefferson Monticello, the Golden Gate, Disney
concert Hall and more. Bring a picture of your favorite

Middle School Life Science, The Human Body & Nutrition, 9:50, age 10-14, $52 plus $15
This class
covers half a year of middle school biology.
This term will focus on the human
body (not including reproduction!) and human health and nutrition. Topics
covered include: The parts and systems of the human body, nutrition, and
healthy habits. Each week students will
be required to complete a short reading assignment and as well as a brief
activity at home. In class, we will go over the answers to the

Auditioning, Stage and Film, 1:30-2:25,

Focus on the art of auditioning in this class.
Students will work on cold and warm reads, introductions, and monologues for
stage and film work. Each student will leave the class with a prepared 1 minute
monologue to use in future auditions.

Sewing for the Beginner, 1:30-2:25, age 8 & up, $52 plus $5 and 1 fabric
This class will pay for itself many times over.
In this fun class, we will start with the basics of proper mending,
buttons, but quickly move to reading and understanding patterns, fabric selection
and non-traditional sources for a true economy of sewing. We will end this
series with a fun fashion show of our creations. Bring one mending
project from home the first week. Students will need to buy or bring in

is a youth-based culinary nutrition education program that teaches the health
benefits of vegetables and how to prepare them in simple, affordable, unique,
and most importantly, delicious ways! Veggiecation®
lessons focus on the seasonality of fruits, vegetables, beans and herbs as well
as their common geographic region and the health benefits most relevant to minds
and bodies. Join Chef Cindy for a

The class will involve playing chess with the
instructor, giving advice, group instruction of chess tactics, and introduction
of tournament rules. Students will learn the proper use of a chess clock and
how to record a chess game. Students will receive a workbook in which homework
of 15 minutes per week will be given. Chess sets and clocks are provided.
Appropriate for students who know how to play chess, but have never taken a

If students have taken a chess class with
Alexander before, they should take this class. We will review in order to
assess how well students remember previous material, and then we will delve
into more complicated ideas such as opening theory, longer forced checkmates,

Learn an appreciation of Art and Art History thru
a series of multi-media projects. Each project will focus on an important

from Caravaggio, Drawing from DaVinci, Art activism from Haring, Texture

Lyrical Ballet with

Lyrical ballet offers a beautiful style dance with

Learn about Air (pressure, Bernouilli’s Law,
friction, etc.), Water (surface tension, density, etc.), magnetism, force,

receive a portfolio and pages to collect their special physics cards, as well

Broadway Babies, 12:20, ages 3-5, $52
Combine music, dance and drama into one class.
We will sing songs, play with instruments and learn the basics of dance
for theater. In class we will act out Bible stories and songs to learn
some of the basics of drama. This class is for the youngest performer and
will be adapted to meet the needs of the students in the class. The
primary goal is feeling comfortable on stage and having a great time.
Parents are welcome to attend with their children to make this class a
