College Prep - Focus on Skills, 9:50, 10th grade-12th grade, $49
Learn with other teens how to facilitate study skills in order to excel in a college setting.  Learn various methods of note taking and outlining to determine which method is best for your learning style.  We will go over examples of abbreviations and short hand techniques.   We will also go over plagiarism and paraphrasing.  Two classes will be dedicated to speech preparation.  Assignments will coincide with each week’s topic.  Bring pencil, pen and paper.  Instructor:  Tracey Cooley Kevelighan, Attorney.

Intro to Technical Drawing, 1:45-3:00, dates below, ages 13 & up, $49 plus $15 supply fee
Do you love to draw in a technical way?  Learn the basics of drafting, creating 2D and 3D drawings in geometric construction and basic perspective.  As a final project, draw a building, house, or interior technical drawing perspective colored with water colors.  This new class will meet every other week for 4 weeks, on 9/23, 10/7, 10/21, and 11/4.  Instructor:  Carmen Fernandez

Computer, Intro to Programming, 10:50, ages 12 & up, $56, BYO Laptop Computer
Basic software engineering, or programming, is a means of telling the computer what you want it to do.  In this class, we will learn these basics using the C/C++ programming language.  We’ll also review basic parts of the computer, what they are used for, how the computer runs software, and the logic used to understand how this software works.   Bring your own laptop, and tell what type operating system while registering (Windows, Mac, Linux, etc.).  Instructor:  Jared Piro

Jewelry Design, 10:50, ages 12 & up, $67 plus $19 supply fee
Take a look at the history of jewelry design and what has been created before us.  Learn to wrap wire to add beads to chains and make pendants.  Boys can make masculine pendants if they choose.  This is a very sellable skill that they are learning.  This instructor has been designing and selling her own jewelry for twenty years.  Both young men and young women will enjoy this fascinating class and come away with a professional looking piece of jewelry at the end.  Finished piece will be displayed during production.  Instructor:  Karen Walby

Cross Fit Teens, 10:50, ages 12 & up, $56
Grow up healthy and strong with a life long love of working out, thus avoiding the common problems associated with childhood inactivity and obesity!  Children will push, pull, run, throw, climb, lift, jump, effectively and safely, regardless of whether or not they play athletics.  During this program, the coach will educate your child on the importance of making their bodies powerful, enriching their mindsbuilding strong character, creating rewarding experiences, and developing a sense of pride.  We require tennis shoes for this program.  Parents welcome!  Instructor:  Jason David

Metalsmithing:  9:50, ages 12 & up, $67 plus $20 supply fee
Learn to cut out a metal sheet design with a small safe jeweler’s saw, texture it, and create art.  Some bead or stone wrapping will be taught as well.  We will also look at other Fine Craft Metalsmithing works from contemporary jewelry artists. New students and returning students welcome.  New material will be taught.  Supply fee: $18 unless different mediums are chosen.  List is available.   Finished piece will be displayed during production.

Pen and Ink for Advanced Students, 12:20, ages 12 & up, $67 plus $8 supply fee
Have experience with these drawing skills:  shading, perspective, gesture, and drawing?  This class is for you.  Use beautiful Bristol paper to lightly sketch still life objects and then learn to draw over the outline with black ink.  Learn a crosshatch technique for shading with pen.  The outcome is very striking and finished looking.  We will study artists who have used this technique as well.  This is a great skill for any young artist who loves to draw.    Instructor:  Karen Walby

Basic Hebrew for Beginners, 9:50 or 12:20, ages 12-18, $56 + $2 supply fee
An introduction and study course for anyone of between the ages 12-18 who wishes to read, write, and understand the Hebrew language. Students will be able to follow along in an easy-to-understand format starting with Hebrew letters and vowels, and moving on to the construction of words and phrases.  Also, students will learn words that are found in many Jewish blessings.  Class will include worksheets to take home.  Instructor:  Steve Laskowski

Jewish Feast Days and Traditions, 10:50, ages 12-18, $56 + $2 supply fee
This is an introductory course in the Feasts of Israel and other basic Jewish traditions.  Students between the ages 12-18 will learn the history of the Feasts and some biblical traditions; how they are practiced today, and how many of them point to a Messianic significance.  Class will include a take home booklet.  Instructor:  Steve Laskowski

Art Journaling, 12:20, ages 12 & up, $56 plus $5 supply fee
Art journaling is defined as using art in a journal as a personal expression. In this class we will explore techniques in paint and collage to expand on our journaling creativity. Some techniques covered will be creating a background with paint, using collage, learning ways to use your journal, and more.  Please bring a photograph of yourself to first class to use for our first page.  Your art may be displayed during production.  Instructor:  Brooke Turner

Cake Decorating, 12:20, ages 12 & up, including adults!  $56 plus $35 supply fee
Learn the basics of cake decorating, from applying icing to designing a cake. From different borders, several flowers, figure piping, & more, students will learn different techniques.  Students will bring home cakes & cupcakes on specific weeks, and will display their final cake during production, before bringing it home.  Instructor:  Cindy Giraud

French I, 10:50, ages 12 & up, $49 plus $3 supply fee
French I is an introduction to the French language and culture.  This course includes all the basics of language study – vocabulary, grammar, listening, speaking, culture, and practice.  .  Students will use an edited version of Francias Interactif, a complete college-level first year French course (corresponding to French I and French II of high school level French.)  Instructor:  Roseanna Ondra

Broadway Teens, 10:50, ages 12 & up, $56
Each class will combine music, dance and drama to create an end class production.  Drama topics will include “What do I do with my hands?”, “Facial expressions don’t lie.”, and “Think like you mean it.”  We will work to create a short musical theater piece that shows natural talents on the stage while learning new things each week in class.  Instructor:  JoAnne Kroll

Teen Ceramics, 9:50, ages 11 & up, $67 plus $10 supply fee
Students in this class will be guided in developing both sculptural and functional ceramic pieces while learning about clay and handbuilding techniques. Students will be offered projects that will allow them to explore the material while developing their own "voice" to put into their pieces.  Instructor:  Tracey Priska

Babysitters Course, 9:50, ages 11-15, $56 plus $5 supply fee
Would you like to start your own babysitting business?  This class is for you!  We will learn the ins and outs of children from caring for infants to playing games with preteens.  The class will include how to have a successful childcare business, child development, games to play with children and basic CPR and First Aid.   In the 9th week we will use our skills learned in the class and have an opportunity to care for real children.  Instructor:  Racheal Flanagan

Foundations in History, 12:20, ages 10 & up, $56 plus $5 supply fee
Through the lives of individual men and women (Pilgrims, Puritans, Founders, and ordinary citizens), God directs the course of history for His purpose.  With aid from the “Drive through History America” program, we will learn, complete activities, and have group discussions about these people.  Instructor:  Racheal Flanagan

Drama!  9:50 or 12:20, ages 9 & up, $56
New instructor, our amazing ASL teacher!  A fun Drama class of verbal and non-verbal communication form.  Kids will come up with their own ideas of who, what, where, creative situations, character development, pantomime, facial expressions and gestures.  Skills mastered will be used in production at the end of course.  Instructor:  Deb Weathers-Jablonski


The Write Shop, 1:30-3:30, dates below, 6th to 10th grade, $55
This beginning writing class will use the Write Shop curriculum to learn various types of composition; descriptive, narrative, informative, and persuasive.  We will also cover editing skills, current events and journaling.  This class will lay an excellent foundation for next year’s class, the IEW high school course.  This class can coincide with your home studies to be a full high school credit (ask how).  We will meet every other week this term, on 9/16, 9/30, 10/14, 10/28, and 11/4.  Payment is for this term only.  We will offer 5 more weeks January-April, and 6 more in May-June, for a total of 16 weeks.  Please bring the Write Shop I book to class, along with pencil and paper.   Book available at www.writeshop.com.  Instructor:  Debbye Rheker

Art with Carmen, 10:30-11:45, or 12:20-1:35, ages 9 & up, $88 plus $15 supply fee
Consider an autumn day.  What do you see?  What would you reflect or project?  Draw the ideas, texture and paint with oil on canvas in this fine arts class.  Note class is 1 hour and 15 minutes.  Finished piece will be displayed during production.  Instructor:  Carmen Fernandez, Architect and Artist

Beginner Snare Drum Group Lessons, 12:20, ages 9-12, $49
Learn basic fundamentals of playing snare drums as a group.  New students welcome, or continue your drumming skills from last term. Drum pad and SD1 general drumsticks will be necessary for the class.  Skills mastered may be used in production at the end of course.  Instructor:  Grant Kendricks

Electricity and Magnetism, 12:20, ages 9-11, $56 plus $5 supply fee
Learn basics about electricity and magnetism, parts used in circuits, and what they are used for.  See how electricity can be made into magnetism, and vise-versa.  Make a compass, alarm, resistor, etc.  Instructor: Jared Piro

Charcoal and Pencil Drawing, 1:30-2:25, ages 9 & up, 9 weeks, $67 plus $8 supply fee
This class will be a light and fun class for budding artists to learn the basics of drawing technique.  We will use charcoal to learn shade and capture an image.  Then we will move on to pencil, creating 1-2 finished drawings with shading.  Finished pieces will be displayed during production.  Note:  No drawing class 11/18, but production 11/18.  Instructor:  Karen Walby

Guitar, group, acoustic or electric, 12:20, ages 8 & up, $67
A group guitar class including tuning, notation, chords, strumming patterns, and more!  Beginners and beyond are welcome.  Acoustic/electric reviewed.  Bring your own guitar, or recommendations for rental are available.  Skills mastered may be used in production at the end of course.  Instructor:  Neal Wright

Building on the skills learned in the last class(es), students will learn new techniques using butter cream icing, royal icing, & fondant. Techniques include: covering a cake with fondant, fondant flowers, royal icing flowers and accents, brushed embroidery, basket weave, the rose and more.  Students will bring home cakes & cupcakes on specific weeks, and will display their final cake during production, before bringing it home.  Prerequisite - completion of the first class or equivalent experience.  Instructor:  Cindy Giraud

Hip Hop Intermediate and up, 10:50, ages 8 & up, $67
Experience requested.  Let’s move!  An awesome class for all, with clean lyrics!  In hip-hop we will be focusing on the rhythm and the beat of the music, coordinating our movements to go with that beat, and incorporating other styles of dance.  Please wear comfortable fitting shorts/pants and t-shirts with clean tennis shoes or jazz shoes.  Dance mastered will be used in production at the end of course. Instructor:  Jennifer Pierson

Make Your Own Stuffed Animals, ages 7-13, $56 plus $15 supply fee
In this class we will be making fun stuffed animals such as a snake, a frog and an elephant cushion.  Must have basic hand sewing skills such the straight stitch and the ability to thread a needle.  Instructor:  Gabrielle Lucido

Beginning Baton Twirling, 1:35-2:30, ages 7-12, 9 weeks, $51
Twirlers will learn basic baton twirls in a stress free setting, or will continue on with their skills learned in the past!  This semester will focus on finger twirls and combinations.  These can be added to the flats you already know for even more possibilities.  Bring your own baton.  Note:  No baton class 11/18, but production 11/18.  Instructor:  JoAnne Kroll

Contemporary Jazz, 9:50, ages 6 & up, $67
From Broadway to the movies, jazz can be found anywhere.  Come and learn some fun steps which will create awesome, full-length dances.  We will dance and get some energy out! Attire:  Girls - “yoga” pants or tights and leotard, jazz or ballet shoes.  Boys - t-shirt and athletic shorts, jazz shoes.  All long hair pulled back securely, please no hair in face.  Dance mastered will be used in production at the end of course.  Instructor:   Jennifer Pierson

Learn about our famous presidents in a fun, age appropriate way.  Play games, learn fun facts, and do activities surrounding some of our founding fathers.  Instructor:  Racheal Flanagan

Heroes of the Bible, 12:20, ages 6-11, $56
Examine the lives of some famous and not-so-famous people from the Bible who had willing hearts to obey God.  And by obeying him, they were used in miraculous and powerful ways to help change the course of human history!  It is the goal of this class to build FAITH, COURAGE, and OBEDIENCE in the lives of children, and to change the world for Jesus.  Instructor:  Ashley Verville

Language Arts Adventures, 9:50, ages 6–9, $56
Each week we will discover the fun of language arts and reading comprehension through a variety of engaging activities.  We will also explore writing and poetry.  Instructor:  Amanda Gehrke

Old Testament Survey, 9:50, ages 6-11, $56
Learn about the exciting things that happened 4000 years ago!  Take a glimpse at how God was working so very long ago through exciting Bible stories, crafts and activities.  Learn about the different people groups in the Old Testament, and look at different maps that show us where all this was taking place.   Let the Bible come alive in a brand new way.  Instructor:  Ashley Verville

Beginning Tap Dancing, 12:20, ages 6 & up, $56
The rapid footing patterns of tap dancing are exceptionally fun for kids!   It encourages rhythm, synchronization, precision, and teamwork.  Any attire is acceptable with the exception of bell bottom pants and dresses or skirts that fall under the knee.  Long hair should be brushed into a ponytail. Black tap shoes are required.  Kids will learn a routine to perform at the end of the semester. Instructor:  Deanna Irwin

Youth Ceramics, 10:50, ages 6–11, $67 plus $10 supply fee
In this class students learn how to shape clay using basic handbuilding techniques. We will be exploring the use of slabs, coils and pinch pots to make both functional and sculptural pieces and allowing room for personal exploration & discovery.  Instructor:  Tracey Priska

Let’s learn the Recorder, 10:50, ages 6-12, 9 weeks, $56 plus $6 book
Learn how to play recorder, reading treble clef notes and learning beginning musical rhythms and notations.  Students will learn a cute piece to perform in the production.  Bring your recorder, or ask to purchase one through E Hub for $2.  Bring a folder for notes.  Note: Recorder students do not have class on 9/16.  Instructor:  Kathy Hoffman

Superstar!  9:50, ages 6–12, $56
Encourage “God-esteem” through performing arts by celebrating the unique talents of each child.  This class will incorporate music, drama and dance with Scripture celebrating the way God made us.  We are all superstars in His eyes!  We will prepare and perform a short piece for production.  Hard soled flats (or tap shoes) and tight fitting socks (or ballet shoes) requested for dance portion of our class.  We will alternate dance and music styles throughout the class.  Instructor:  JoAnne Kroll

Tap Dancing, Intermediate, 9:50, ages 6 & up, $56
Kids that have had one to two years of tap experience would fit right into this class!  The tappers should have knowledge of the basic tap steps such as shuffle, shuffle ball change, toe taps, heel taps, flaps, stomps, and how to use them.  We'll review the steps that the dancers already know and add a variety of new steps such as pull backs, the waltz clog, and single, double, and triple time steps.  If the class moves exceptional quickly, we can add a new favorite tap move, the scissor step!  Any attire is acceptable with the exception of bell bottom pants and dresses or skirts that fall under the knee.  Long hair should be brushed into a ponytail.  Black tap shoes are required.  Kids will learn a routine to perform at the end of the semester.  Instructor:  Deanna Irwin

Each week the children will learn about a different fruit of the spirit in a fun and interactive way.  There are 9 different character traits we will explore, along with what it really looks like to walk with Christ.  The students will learn about other characters in the bible that exemplified these traits.  Then they will apply these character traits to their own lives.  Instructor:  Ashley Verville

Holiday Craft Class, 12:20, ages 5-9, $56 plus $6 supply fee
Come celebrate a years’ worth of holidays in 10 weeks!  Each week we will do a craft, learn some facts, and read a story about a holiday. We will study Christmas, Easter, St Patrick's Day, Valentine's Day, Thanksgiving, Birthdays, and more!  Instructor:  Gabrielle Lucido

Nature Nut, 9:50, ages 4-8, $56 plus $3 supply fee
Join us for a nature adventure.  We will be studying rocks, birds, flowers, animals, and more.  We will also keep a journal of everything we learn and may take a trip to a nature center (date TBD).  We will be learning through the Bible, books, pictures, and hands-on materials. Instructor:  Rebekah Patrick

Tots Ballet, 9:15-9:45, or 1:30-2:00, ages 3-6, 9 weeks, $63
Tots Ballet is an adorable class for young children who may or may not have experience in dance.  Ballet technique is the foundation for every style of dance; jazz, modern, ballroom, and even hip-hop!  Girls: Pink or black Leotard, Pink or white Tights, Ballet Shoes.  Boys: White T-Shirt, Black light cotton pants (no sweats), ballet shoes.  All long hair pulled back securely in a ponytail or bun, please no hair in face.  Dance will be used in production, with simple costuming.  Note:  No tots class 11/18, but production 11/18.  Instructor:  Jennifer Pierson.

More Adventures in Literature, 10:50, ages 3–6, $56
Each week we'll enjoy the adventures of a classic children's book, and then enjoy activities that go along with our story.  We'll play games, create art projects and explore social studies, math and science concepts from the story.  Always a new subject, every term! Instructor:  Amanda Gehrke


Broadway Babies, 12:20, ages 3–6, $56
Music and Dance and Drama, oh, my!  Children will enjoy an exploration of music through singing and listening, dance through choreography, and drama through skits and stories.  They will be acting out a song for performance day.  Instructor:  JoAnne Kroll

Experiencing Music, 10:10-10:50, ages 3-5, 9 weeks, $56
Children will love this early childhood music class that explores singing, movement, and musical games including various percussion instruments, boom whackers etc.  In the last class, parents are welcome to join in the class room and see what their children have learned.  Note:  this is a 40 minute class, due to the needs of tots.  Note:  Recorder students do not have class on 9/16.  Instructor: Kathy Hoffman

Tiny Tot Tap, 10:50, ages 3-5, $56   
This fun class will give young children the feel of making music with their feet!   Early tap dancing was considered a form of percussion.  Any attire is acceptable with the exception of bell bottom pants and dresses or skirts that fall under the knee.  Long hair should be brushed into a ponytail.  Black tap shoes are required.  Kids will learn a routine to perform at the end of the semester.  Instructor: Deanna Irwin

Come learn in a full-immersion class through “Adventures in Autumn.”   Our dynamic teachers use a variety of proven methods to teach kids to understand, and ultimately speak, a new language.  Our teachers lead kids through adventure-filled lessons that incorporate storytelling, music, movement, art and dramatic play. Curriculum includes CD, Story Book, stickers and flash cards for at-home reinforcement.  Parents are welcome to join in on the learning fun, but are not required to do so.  Instructor:  Roseanna Ondra
