Supplement to U.S. History—Focus on Immigration, 9:50, ages 13 and up, $45

Research the history of immigration into the U.S. from the first settlers to current. Learn in which manners people come to the USlawfully and unlawfully. Analyze, evaluate, and discuss how this affects our daily lives. Weekly assignment will include sharing a current event. End of semester assignment will include researching and presenting your own path in which your family immigrated to the U.S. This is a great class to supplement your U.S. History credit at home. Cake Decorating, 10:50, ages 12 & up, including adults! $55 plus $35 supply fee

Learn the basics of cake decorating, from applying icing to designing a cake. From different borders, several flowers, figure piping, & more, students will learn different techniques. Students will bring home cakes & cupcakes on specific weeks, and will display their final cake during production, before bringing it home. Instructor: Cindy Giraud

Cross Fit Teens, 10:50, ages 12 & up, parents welcome! $55

Grow up healthy, strong with a life long love of working out, thus avoiding the common problems associated with childhood inactivity and obesity! Children will push, pull, run, throw, climb, lift, jump, effectively and safely, regardless of whether or not they play athletics. During this program, the coach will educate your child on the importance of making their bodies powerful, enriching their minds, building strong character, creating rewarding experiences, and developing a sense of pride. We require that kids wear tennis shoes for this program. Instructor: Jason David

Sculptural Art ll: 9:50, ages 11 & up, $67 plus $5 supply fee

This class is a continuation of fall 2010’s Sculpture class. In this class, we will continue our quest to express ourselves 3 dimensionally as we study Joseph Cornell’s boxes and other modern conceptual sculpture. Finished piece will be displayed during production. Instructor: Karen Walby

Advanced Pastel & Pencil Drawing, 10:50, ages 11 & up, $67 plus $12 supply fee

All past drawing & pastel students are welcome to join in this class. These advanced students will be choosing either pencil or pastel as their medium in class. Pencil students will continue to hone their drawing skills as they learn more about perspective and shading, and experience the use of charcoal. Pastel students will draw from a colorful still life and learn more about drawing fabric with pastel as well as other projects. Pencil students should bring their drawing kits and sketch books from last semester. Finished pieces will be displayed during production. Instructor: Karen Walby

E HUB Senior Choir, 12:20, ages 11 & up, $55

E Hub Senior Choir is designed for students who would like to develop their singing skills at a higher level in a group setting. Students will discuss functions in music, voice range, breath control, projection, vocal anatomy, vocal health, and harmony. Beginning ear training will also be taught in his class to help students "hear" harmony as they learn their parts. We will use fun and easy vocal exercises to help in our daily recognition of pitch, while growing as singers. All levels of experience are welcome! Students will perform together in the Production. Creative Writing with Live Writing, 10:50, ages 11 & up, $55 plus book fees (see below)

This course will help students create their own writing style through writers' workshops. Students will learn how to develop voice, create characters, and develop sentences and phrases with "punch and pizzazz". If students also need help with grammar and syntax, instructor will offer after school tutoring on Fridays. Please bring 1 Composition book, 1 notebook and textbooks to first class. The text will be taken from books by Ralph Fletcher called: Live Writing and A Writer's Notebook. Books are $6.50 each, and can be shared by siblings. Instructor: Alethea Gurabardhis

Jewelry: Creating Clay Polymer Beads, 10:50, ages 11 & up, $55 plus $10 supply fee

Students will love making different types of polymer clay beads. We will explore the bull’s eye, millefiori, and checkerboard cane techniques as it applies to beads. Students will create necklaces, earrings, and bracelets in their own beading style. Your art may be displayed during production. Instructor: Renee Cook

P.A. Boot Camp l, 9:50, or 10:50, ages 11 & up, $55

Get a first glance at production, and what it has to offer. Gain valuable information and insight into the life of a PA (Production Assistant). Gain the knowledge and understanding needed to operate the basics, as well as some advanced features of production including but not limited to audio, video, lighting, camera operation, and staging. More advanced students also welcome. Instructor: Matt Inskeep

P.A. Boot Camp ll, 12:20, ages 11 & up, $55

Once the basics have been learned, practiced, and virtually mastered, the technique of a P.A. can then be applied. In this class students will learn how to create production run sheets, operate various types of equipment, and learn about the various types of positions and their functions. The final exam will consist of the students from this class operating all technical aspects for the closing E Hub Production. Instructor: Matt Inskeep

Art Journaling, 12:20, ages 12 & up, $55 plus $5 supply fee

Art journaling is defined as using art in a journal as a personal expression. In this class we will explore techniques in paint and collage to expand on our journaling creativity. Some basic and fun techniques covered will be creating a background with paint, using collage, learning ways to use your journal, and more. Please bring a photograph of yourself to first class to use for our first page. Your art may be displayed during production. Instructor: Brooke Turner

Intro to Biology ll, 9:50, ages 10-14, $55 plus $4 lab fee

The Biology ll science course will be a continuation of the Biology class that was taught in fall 2010, but new students are also welcome. We will study the difference between plant and animal cells, exoskeletons, endoskeletons, and the kinds of animals that have them, their habitats and food. If there is interest, we might build "farms" to let students observe how creatures work. Instructor: Alethea Gurabardhis

Drama! 10:50, ages 9–16, $55

A fun Drama class of verbal and non-verbal communication form. Students will come up with their own ideas of who, what, where, creative situations, character development, pantomime, facial expressions and gestures, and create a script through this fashion. Skills mastered will be used in production at the end of course. Instructor: Katie Beth Hostetter, Director of Urban Arts.

Art with Carmen, 10:30-11:45, or 12:20-1:35, ages 9 & up, $77 plus $15 supply fee

Experience an illustrator’s thoughts as you imagine creating the cover of your favorite book. What would you want to reflect or project? Would your painting include the characters, favorite scenes, and/or special graphics? Learn the rules of graphic design, draw the ideas (bring picture or imagination), and paint with oil on canvas. Note class is 1 hour and 15 minutes. Finished piece will be displayed during production. Instructor: Carmen Fernandez, Arquitect and Artist

Vocal Technique, 10:50, ages 9 & up, $55

Want to improve your vocal skills? The focus for this class will be on pitch accuracy, breath control, projection, basic anatomy of the voice, and vocal health. We will use fun and easy vocal exercises to help in our daily recognition of pitch. Every week we will be singing in front of our peers and learning how to give constructive criticism (under the teacher’s supervision.) At the conclusion of our semester, there will be a performance in front of your Vocal Technique peers. All ability levels welcome! Instructor, Sara Aylesworth

Beginner Snare Drum Group Lessons, 12:20, ages 9-12, $55.

Learn basic fundamentals of playing snare drums as a group. New students welcome, or continue your drumming skills from last term. Drum pad and SD1 general drumsticks will be necessary for the class. Skills mastered may be used in production at the end of course. Instructor: Grant Kendricks

Cake Decorating-Intermediate, 12:20, ages 8 & up, $55 plus $35 supply fee

Building on the skills learned in the last class, students will learn new techniques using butter cream icing, royal icing, & fondant. Techniques include: covering a cake with fondant, fondant flowers, royal icing flowers and accents, brushed embroidery, basket weave, the rose and more. Students will bring home cakes & cupcakes on specific weeks, and will display their final cake during production, before bringing it home. Prerequisite - completion of the first class or equivalent experience. Instructor: Cindy Giraud

Hip Hop! Intermediate, 10:50, ages 8 & up, $68

Some experience requested. Let’s move! An awesome class for all, with clean lyrics! In hip-hop we will be focusing on the rhythm and the beat of the music, coordinating our movements to go with that beat, and incorporating other styles of dance. Please wear comfortable fitting shorts/pants and t-shirts with clean tennis shoes or jazz shoes. Dance mastered will be used in production at the end of course. Instructor: Jennifer Pierson

A group guitar class including tuning, notation, chords, strumming patterns, and more! Beginners and beyond are welcome. Acoustic/electric reviewed. Machine sewing Basics, 12:20, ages 7–12, $55 plus $7 supply fee

Come learn the basics of sewing! We will spend the first weeks learning how to use your machines, and move on to making a scarf and purse. Your new pieces will be displayed in the final production. Please bring your own sewing machine and the manual for your machine. Instructor: Gabrielle Lucido

French for Kids, 9:50, ages 7-10, 9 weeks, $49

Learn French through games, stories, drama, crafts, and songs! You’ll learn basic communication skills as you discover French culture in a fun, immersion setting. Weekly handouts and podcasts will help you practice French at home. Skills mastered may be used in production at the end of course. Note: no French class on 3/11. Instructor: Diane Farrug

Contemporary Jazz, 12:20, ages 6 & up, $68

From Broadway to the movies, jazz can be found anywhere. Come and learn some fun steps which will create awesome, full-length dances. We will dance and get some energy out! Attire: Girls - “yoga” pants or tights and leotard, jazz or ballet shoes. Boys - t-shirt and athletic shorts, jazz shoes. All long hair pulled back securely, please no hair in face. Dance mastered will be used in production at the end of course. Instructor: Jennifer Pierson

Children's Vocal Technique, 9:50, ages 6-10, $55

Let's Sing! This class will be a fun way for kids to learn how to sing while working together as a group. Our Focus will be pitch accuracy, breath control, dictation and rhythm. Students will learn 3 songs as a group and will perform the best one on performance day. Instructor: Sara Aylesworth

Old Testament History! 12:20, ages 6 & up, $55

In this class, learn many exciting things that happened 4,000 years ago, and get a glimpse into how God was working so very long ago. Step in to exciting Bible stories, mappings, crafts, and activities of this time period. Children will learn about the people’s customs and create different crafts and do activities to bring the Bible alive in a brand new way. Instructor: Ashley Verville

Superstar! 10:50, ages 6–12, $55

Encourage “God-esteem” through performing arts by celebrating the unique talents of each child. This class will incorporate music, drama and dance with Scripture celebrating the way God made us. We are all superstars in His eyes! We will prepare and perform a short piece for production. Instructor: Jo Anne Kroll

Beginning Baton Twirling, 9:50, ages 7-12, $55

Twirlers will earn basic baton twirls in a stress free setting, or will continue on with their skills from last term! We will put your new skills together in a fun parade-style routine for the production. Bring your own baton, or ask instructor what style/length to purchase. Instructor: JoAnne Kroll

Come explore animal biology together on an elementary level! We will introduce animals and their body parts, their similarities, and life cycles in fun, relevant ways. Instructor: Alethea Gurabardhis

Horses, Horses, Horses! 10:50, ages 5–8, $55 plus $4 supply fee

In this fun class, we’ll learn about horse breeds, colors, and the importance of this magnificent creature though history. We’ll do this through fun games, crafts and activities. Instructor: Gabrielle Lucido

Learn French with Madeline, 12:20, ages 4-6, 9 weeks, $49

You are invited to an “old house in Paris that was covered in vines.” Open the door into the world of Ludwig Bemelman’s classic Madleine books. We will read stories in English, make crafts, play games, and learn to parler fancais! Note: no French class on 3/11. Instructor: Diane Farrug

Praise and Worship! (PAW), 10:50, ages 4 & up, $55

We are called to worship God with every action, every day of our life. A life of praise and worship fills our deepest needs, and amazingly, also brings great joy to God. In this class, children will explore a variety of different ways to worship including singing, playing instruments, creative prayer, dance, scripture, and other creative expression. Instructor: Ashley Verville

Creative Arts & Crafts, 9:50, ages 3-6, $55 plus $5 supply fee

This will be a fun and creative class for the little ones! The children will enjoy making their own creative projects, exploring arts and crafts at their level. We will be using children’s story books and Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes as a basis for many art projects. Parents, please feel free to stay for 2 of these sessions to assist. Instructor: Renee Cook

Pre K Adventures in Literature, 10:50, ages 3–6, $55

Each week we'll enjoy the adventures of a classic children's book, and then enjoy activities that go along with our story. We'll play games, create art projects and explore social studies, math and science concepts from the story. Always a new subject, every term! Instructor: Amanda Gehrke

Tots Ballet, 9:50, ages 3-5, $68

An adorable class for young children who may or may not have experience in dance. Ballet technique is the foundation for every style of dance; jazz, modern, ballroom, and even hip-hop! Girls: Pink or black Leotard, Pink or white Tights, Ballet and Tap Shoes. Boys: White T-Shirt, Black light cotton pants (no sweats), ballet shoes. All long hair pulled back securely in a ponytail or bun, please no hair in face. Dance will be used in production, with simple costuming. Instructor: Jennifer Pierson.

Broadway Babies, 12:20, ages 3–5, $55

Music and Dance and Drama, oh, my! Children will enjoy an exploration of music through singing and listening, dance through choreography, and drama through skits and stories. We will be acting out a song for our performance. Instructor: JoAnne Kroll

Violin, private, ask for times, ages 4 & up, $15/lesson.

Fine arts instructor Katie Beth offers lessons in a mix of the Suzuki method, performance technique, and traditional method. Bring your violin, or recommendations for rental are available. Schedule lessons directly with Katie Beth, please. Instructor: Katie Beth Hostetter, Director of Urban Arts
